History
Badminton or commonly known as badminton is one type of ancient game played in several countries, such as China, Japan, Greece, Thailand and India since 2000 years ago.
In Japan, badminton is usually played using the feet, without using a racket. The shuttlecock will be pushed with the feet from one side of the court to the other and the shuttlecock must not touch the ground.
In the Middle Ages, the British people knew badminton from a house in the Gloucester-Shire area, which is located approximately 200 km from London. The house became the origin of the development of badminton throughout the United Kingdom. The house is known as Badminton House which is the house owned by the Duke of Beaufort and his family, witnessing the history of the development of badminton with the format used today. The Duke of Beaufort and his family were badminton activists in the 17th century.
The word ‘badminton’ is taken from the name of the house and is the only sport whose name is based on the name of a place. So, the Duke of Beaufort was not the inventor of badminton. And because of this name, the game of badminton became increasingly well-known among the upper classes until it spread to all corners.

Badminton first entered Indonesia in 1930. England introduced badminton to its colonies, such as Malaysia and Singapore.
The Indonesian badminton organization was founded in 1933 in Jakarta under the name Bataviase Badminton Bond and Bataviase Badminton League.
